ESSEX — Board defers deliberation after first interview for fire engineers vacancy. Fire Chief Christian Hassel and Deputy Fire Chief Ernest Nieberle, both Board members, heard from Gloucester Deputy Chief Nicholas Ouellette after candidate Mark Brewer withdrew his application. The committee will complete interviews with two additional candidates on August 25 before deliberating.

Town Administrator Brendhan Zubricki recommended setting interview scores comparatively across all candidates. The group agreed to streamline its questions for the remaining interviews.
