ESSEX — Board of Fire Engineers meets on Deputy Chief vacancy. The Board convened August 5 with two of three members present: Ernest Nieberle (Deputy Fire Chief-C2) and Christian Hassel (Board Member). The board reviewed and approved the proposed interview questions for the open Deputy Chief position with minor adjustments.
Nieberle proposed contacting the former Deputy Chief regarding retracting his resignation. Discussion covered interview panel composition and appointment procedures. Nieberle also proposed three maintenance actions: proactive conversations before issues escalate, reinforced crew truck inspections, and Allegiance evaluation of the air conditioning unit in vehicle E-2 that had been previously repaired by the same contractor.
