Board of Selectmen · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Essex Selectmen approve movie filming at police station with $2,500 location fee. The Board voted unanimously to allow a production company to film at the Essex Police Station, contingent on Town Counsel review of the location agreement and payment of $2,500 to the Police Department's cardiac evaluation program. In related action, the Board unanimously approved one-day wine, malt, and entertainment licenses for the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum on October 24, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum Shipyard.
The Board also voted 2-1 to advance a two-step Government Study Committee plan, with Chairman Ann Cameron and Selectman Peter D. Phippen in favor and Selectman Dexter Lee-Viator opposed, to eventually review town authority and management structure.
