Essex Selectmen approve FY26 budget, appoint three firefighters. The Board unanimously approved the town's FY2026 capital and operating budget requests and submitted them to the Finance Committee. The Board appointed three probationary firefighters for a partial one-year term ending June 30, 2026, subject to testing: Michael Varone, Riley Smith, and Lucia Wendell.
Additional unanimous approvals included a $1.07 million weekly warrant, the National Grid pole installation on Harlow Street, and authorization for Town Administrator Brendhan Zubricki to coordinate with the state and UMass Boston on placing a flooding network sensor on the causeway.
