Selectmen greenlight rowboat access at Town Landing

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of June 10, 2026

Essex Selectmen approve rowboat activities for historical society. The Board greenlighted the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum's use of the Town Landing ramp for hand-carrying rowboats into the Essex River for cleanup days and green crab trapping, classifying both as educational and scientific activities. The Board deferred decisions on requests for phragmites maintenance and old Town Pier cleanup, asking the museum to secure Conservation Commission approval first.

A task-based license agreement will be reviewed at the June 22 meeting.
