Manchester Essex Schools Adopt New Wellness Policy
School Committee · Meeting of August 17, 2026
ESSEX — Manchester Essex school panel adopts wellness policy, advances new school's contested roof design. The School Committee voted unanimously to accept a Framingham State-vetted revision of its wellness policy and to accept a donation funding the district's Hudl video-review subscription for 2026-2027. The bigger story remained the new elementary school: a construction-manager-at-risk firm is now onboarded, and designers are weighing a rounded, "ship's hull"-inspired roofline against a conventional peaked one, with public input sought at an Aug. 25 community meeting ahead of a town vote targeted for November or December.
Officials also reported $103,000 in unbudgeted Chapter 70 state aid for FY27, a closed IRS audit carrying a $4,000 fine, and a still-outstanding FY25 audit from firm C-Biz that officials said must arrive by month's end to protect the district's bond rating.
