Essex Library to Cut Ribbon on New Patio, Garden Sept. 26
DATELINE — ESSEX
The T.O.H.P. Burnham Public Library is preparing to open its new garden and patio to the public, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, a project the Friends of the Library group has spent weeks coordinating.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The library's Friends group used a Sept. 8 planning meeting to finalize details for the patio and garden grand opening, according to the library's event calendar. The ceremony will be held outside on the library lawn at 30 Martin St. and requires no registration.
Library programming continues on its regular fall schedule. Library Director Carla Christensen leads the weekly Junk Journaling meetup on the third floor, where patrons work with reused, tactile materials to build keepsake journals. The library's weekly Mahjong Meetup, capped at 16 registered participants, also continues to draw a full roster, and maternity nurse Makenzie O'Bryan, a local mother of three, keeps hosting the library's Mother's Support Group as a drop-in space for parents to connect.
