Three boards coordinate public works budget and operations review

Essex boards align on public works reforms for fiscal 2027. Three town bodies — the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee, and Board of Public Works — convened jointly on February 24 to coordinate DPW priorities. Finance Committee Chair Jodi Harris outlined the need to quantify departmental needs and staffing requirements.
All parties agreed to pursue Annual Town Meeting funding for work order and asset management software deemed essential to evaluating departmental operations and future budget decisions. The Town Accountant was also directed to add a $3,000 Fuel Depot Maintenance line to the Highway budget.
