Selectmen, Finance Committee, Public Works agree on DPW software purchase
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of February 24, 2026
ESSEX — Three boards chart DPW budget modernization, reject sidewalk-clearing bylaw. At a joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee, and Board of Public Works, Chairman Alva A. Ingaharro and Finance Committee Chair Jodi Harris led discussion aimed at modernizing departmental budgeting for fiscal 2027.
The groups agreed to seek work order and asset management software funding at the spring Town Meeting. The Selectmen rejected a proposal to require residents to clear sidewalks on their property. The Board of Public Works confirmed pursuit of $1,092,000 in federal earmark funds for water main replacement, using Water Department retained earnings as the local match, and scheduled another DPW Superintendent candidate interview for March 2, 2026.
