Manchester Essex School Committee Unanimously Reelects Chair Reed for Second Year
ESSEX — June 3, 2025 — Manchester Essex Regional School Committee reelects leadership and reviews three years of district progress. The committee voted 7-0 by roll call Tuesday to keep Chris Reed as chair and Kate as vice chair for the 2025-26 school year, with member Teresa arguing that "there are significant challenges ahead" and that the pair's continuity is essential. Superintendent Pam reported the district met 82 percent of its three-year district improvement plan objectives, including 85 percent of goals tied to regular instruction, and she and Director of Curriculum Heather walked members through all four strategic initiatives. A special education transportation deal with the North Shore Education Consortium is now projecting savings of roughly $95,000 — 10 percent of routing costs — above the 8 percent budgeted. Pam also disclosed publicly for the first time that she intends to remain as superintendent through 2027, tied to completion of the Essex elementary MSBA project, with a formal contract discussion scheduled for the summer. The search for an interim middle school principal remains unresolved, with Pam warning that "I don't think there is a deep pool."
