Essex Board Redirects Police Vehicle Order, Approves Farm Store Liquor License

ESSEX — March 3, 2025 — Essex Select Board moves police vehicle order to local dealer after fleet falls to one working cruiser. The board voted unanimously March 3 to place its existing order with MHQ on hold and purchase a 2025 Ford F-150 Responder and 2025 Ford Interceptor from Colonial Motor Group, which beat state bid prices by $757 and $1,578 respectively and promised delivery within 30 to 60 days versus a June or July estimate from MHQ. Sergeant Shamshack told the board the department had spent $16,042 on repairs this fiscal year — driving the vehicle maintenance account to 130 percent of budget and requiring a $9,000 emergency transfer — and that on at least one recent evening "we may only have one working vehicle for town." The board also unanimously approved transferring the annual wine and malt package store license at 91 Main Street from the Essex Wine Exchange to Marsh View Farm Store, LLC, owned by Glenn C. Warren Jr. and Tammy Warren, who plan to open a North Shore farm general store at the site by July.
