Board splits on May annual town meeting override articles

Essex selectmen vote to endorse two override articles on May 4 annual meeting warrant in a 2-1 split decision. Selectmen Peter D. Phippen and Ann O.
Cameron backed the endorsement, while Chairman Alva A. Ingaharro opposed it. The board also unanimously approved revisions to the Essex Housing Production Plan and authorized Doug Kriz to harvest hay from the town-owned field at 30 Apple Street.
Shellfish Constable William Knovak requested a reduction in commercial shellfish permit limits from 94, citing declining shellfish populations in recent years.
