Board approves sewer flow increase for Western Avenue ADU

Essex Public Works board approves sewer increase for Western Avenue ADU. Commissioner Dexter Doane moved to approve increased sewer flow for the accessory dwelling unit at 7 Western Avenue, following town counsel guidance that such approvals serve the board's interests under new state law. Commissioner Westley Burnham seconded, and the board voted unanimously in favor.
The board also reviewed materials for Essex Park Road storm water development and approved adding a water valve at the Apple Street bridge for emergency water-main shutoff, permitting Apple Street to be fed through the new development. The department continues awaiting bids for pump-station alarms required by state regulators.
